Everyone in the GTA knows a renovation story: the deposit that disappeared, the price that changed at the end, the job that was never quite finished. Ali Baba Constructions exists to be the other kind of contractor, the one you would send your own family to.
Kumail Ali quotes every job himself and puts the scope and the price in writing before anything starts. Licensed trades do the electrical, plumbing and heating. Permits are planned from the first visit, the work is planned around a family still living in the house, and Kumail is on site until the final walkthrough. That is why most of our work comes from families sent to us by someone they trust.

The fear
A contractor you have to chase
Kumail is the owner, the estimator and the person on site, so there is no salesperson and no handoff, and the phone is answered by the person doing the work. The scope and the price are in writing before anything is ordered or opened up, and if something has to change you hear it from him first, with the reason. Licensed trades do the electrical, plumbing and heating. The job is not called done until you have walked it with him.

Kumail comes to your home, looks at the space with you and talks through what you want. You get a written estimate at no charge, with the scope spelled out.
Plan, finishes and timeline
Materials, finishes and the schedule are settled with you before anything is ordered or opened up.
Permits and registration
If your job needs a building permit, or a basement unit needs to be registered with the City, we say so at the estimate and build it into the plan.
The build
Kumail runs the site day to day. Electrical, plumbing and heating work is done by licensed trades he works with regularly.
Final walkthrough
We walk the finished space with you, room by room, and anything that is not right is fixed before we call the job done.

Do you charge for estimates?
No. Kumail visits your home, measures, talks through the work and sends a written estimate at no charge.
Can you build a legal basement apartment?
Yes. We build second units and in-law suites with their own entrance, kitchen and bathroom. The building permit, fire separation, egress and inspections are planned from the first visit so the finished unit can be registered with the City.
Can we live in the house during the renovation?
Usually, yes. A kitchen, bathroom or basement job can be done with the family at home. At the estimate we go through which rooms will be out of use and for roughly how long, so you can plan around it.
How soon can you start?
That depends on the size of the job and what is already booked. You get a realistic start date with the estimate, not a hopeful one.
Who does the work?
Kumail plans and manages every job and brings in trades he works with regularly. Electrical, plumbing and heating work is done by licensed tradespeople.
Do you handle permits?
Yes. We tell you at the estimate whether your job needs a permit and plan the application and the inspections into the schedule.
Do you take on smaller jobs?
Our work is mostly whole rooms and whole houses: kitchens, bathrooms, basement suites, full renovations and new builds. If you have something smaller, call and ask. Kumail will tell you straight away whether it fits.
